Tenants happier in the Highlands

Albyn Housing Society compared the results of its latest tenant satisfaction survey with 40 other housing societies across Scotland.
In seven out of eight areas, Albyn tenant satisfaction levels are higher than the national average. In some instances satisfaction levels were 13% above the Scottish average with quality of service, value for money and listening to tenants’ views, all rated highly.
Calum Macaulay, Chief Executive of Albyn, said: “The results of the survey and benchmarking exercise are overwhelmingly positive and challenge certain perceptions about social housing. We have tenants in over 2,000 properties across the Highlands and the majority of them feel their neighbourhoods are superb places to live.
He added: “Over a third of the tenants we spoke to are in full time work, over a third have lived in their current homes for more than ten years and around half are in a new build property.”
The tenants satisfaction survey also highlights that the vast majority of tenants understand the housing allocations system, most were housed within eight months and 98% felt the terms of their tenancy agreement were explained well.
An independent market research company was commissioned to carry out the research which included a postal and telephone survey. One third of Albyn tenants are invited to participate in the survey each year and the average response rate is 40%. 330 Albyn tenants responded to the latest tenant satisfaction survey.
