Albyn Housing has recently secured funding from the Scottish Government to help fund two part time Welfare Benefit Officer posts. These Officers are based in Wick (Jennifer Harvey in the Pulteney Peoples Project offices) and Invergordon (Tracey Shaw in Albyn's office). Both Officer posts are employed by the Pulteney People's Project and the Citizens Advice Bureau and they offer a free, impartial and completely confidential service to assist individuals and families to deal with poverty related issued affecting their lives.
They do not disclose any detail of their work to Albyn staff.
Their main aim is to help our older and more vulnerable tenants to maximise their income. This will mostly be through offering advice and assistance with welfare benefit entitlements and helping with practical things such as form filling. The service will initially be targeting our tenants aged 60 or over. Some of you may have already received a letter introducing you to the Welfare Benefit Officer covering your area.
IF YOU ARE AGED OVER 60 AND WOULD LIKE SOME FREE AND CONFIDENTIAL HELP OR ADVICE ON WELFARE BENEFITS, PLEASE PHONE TRACY OR JENNIFER DIRECT. They can talk to you and then make further arrangements to discuss your situation in more detail.
