Albyn has completed its latest development of affordable homes next to Ross County’s home ground in Dingwall, providing new flats for up to twenty people.
For John Brown and his wife Elizabeth, the move to Jubilee Park Court couldn’t have come sooner.
Calum Macaulay, Chief Executive of Albyn, said: “Dingwall is an area of high affordable housing demand and these small, well designed infill projects are essential while we wait for other larger development opportunities to come forward.”
He added: “With funding provision worryingly low, this much needed affordable development on a brownfield site is a positive step in the right direction. We’ve employed the expertise and services of Inverness-based MAK Projects and Global Construction to provide a welcome boost to the local construction industry.”
Speaking of his move, John Brown, who has been living in Tore for the past four and a half years, said: “Elizabeth and I couldn’t be more delighted with our new home. The standard of workmanship is absolutely second to none and we look forward to many happy years here. What’s even better is that I’m a longstanding Ross County fan, so I’ll never a miss a game again.
His wife said, “We are very pleased with our new home. We can’t wait to have our grandchildren over and now with all this space they will be able to come and visit us all the time.”
The project was also supported by a £403,300 Housing Association Grant provided by the Scottish Government. Speaking of this, Housing Minister Keith Brown said: “This is an important project and its completion makes a significant contribution to the availability of affordable housing in this part of the Highlands.
“We all know how scarce public funding is at the moment, and it’s increasingly vital that it is used effectively in order to help address housing need”.
