Albyn puts on a show for kids at Scotland’s Housing Expo
16 August 2010

Albyn Housing Society is guaranteeing fun for all the family at Scotland’s Housing Expo this month.

The Albyn Family Fun House at Plot 4.3 hosts a number of fun packed activities for children and there is plenty more for the kids to enjoy throughout the site.

The Invergordon-based housing association has arranged face painting, stilt walkers, clowns and circus acts to help the kids enjoy the Expo whilst parents are exploring the properties on offer.

Speaking of the children’s entertainment, Calum Macaulay, Chief Executive of Albyn said: “The Housing Expo is a family day out and we thought it would be a good idea to put on some activities which would appeal to youngsters.  This way, kids can be entertained and perhaps even learn a few things leaving parents free to discover all the Expo has to offer in their own time.

“We are also encouraging children to take part in our Housing Expo quiz as well as our House of the Future competition.”

Albyn Housing is showcasing the latest in eco and budget friendly living at the Expo, which gives visitors a sneak-peek into the future of affordable housing.  Feedback from the Expo is very positive and many visitors are upgrading their single tickets to month long passes to allow them to return to the Expo on additional days.

The organisers of the Scotland Housing Expo are adding to the calendar of entertaining activities for visiting children.  Children can visit Plot 20 to build their own Lego house, there is a great outdoor playground and there are numerous games to enjoy such as giant Connect 4, giant chess and swingball.

Expo Manager, Fiona Hampton said: “There’s a tremendous amount on offer for the kids here at the Housing Expo.
We have a Claystation, Bookbug sessions from Highland Libraries and there are also games for both children and parents which challenge them to stop heat escaping from a model house.”

The first Housing Expo in Scotland is a proving to be a great success. Tickets for children are free of charge.
