Community Needs Assessment (Local Lettings Initiative) Seminar
09 June 2006

A Community Needs Assessment (Local Lettings Initiative) Seminar will be held later this month in Aviemore.

It will be hosted by Albyn Housing Society Ltd. Albyn has been at the forefront of adopting specific measures to address local housing needs in publicly-funded, affordable rented housing developments in rural areas.

Local Lettings Initiatives have been the means by which Albyn has been trying to address these issues. They commissioned Robert Gordons University to undertake a review of how Local Lettings Initiatives have worked and identify how associations might do better.

The seminar will take place on Monday 19 June at the MacDonald Highland Resort, Aviemore, between 10am-4.30pm. The programme will include three plenary sessions in the morning and two workshop sessions in the afternoon.

Speakers lined-up for the day include Paul Spicker and Linda Strangward of Robert Gordons University; Liz Burns, policy officer with the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations; Liz Pritchard of Sheildaig Community Council and Helen Barton and Calum Macaulay of Albyn Housing Society.

Cost is £30 and there will be a number of subsidised places for community councils and small community groups involved with Local Letting Initiatives.
